2 Corinthians 4: 8-9 - An Awesome Endurance Scripture

Last night, in family scripture study, we read something awesome:

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2 Corinthians 4: 8-9

I love this passage, especially verse nine, because it highlights a kind of strength that we don't often talk about, a strength that we don't normally like to exercise, a strength that paladins are supposed to have in spades: the ability to endure.

Life offers plenty of challenges and countless hardships to face. Our task is to endure the challenges and stay faithful to God despite the hardships, but of course, it's not as easy as it sounds. When we face challenges, it's easier to despair than it is to square our shoulders. It's easier to falter than to stand strong. And it's easier to have doubts than to have faith.

 What we need to remember that God is just as real when troubles come as He was when the miracles did, and He's not going to give up - ever, so neither should we. He will always be there to help us, no matter what our challenges are. We may be troubled, persecuted, and cast down, but we are not forsaken, so we don't need to despair.

It's hard sometimes to be faithful and strong in the face of trials, but if we are faithful, God will make sure that we're strong enough to overcome. No matter how badly things are going, we need to remember that God wants us to win. He is caring for us and supporting us constantly, and He'll be there to cheer for us and celebrate with us when we succeed. We're on the same team. And God's team never loses.
